My name is Diana Skakun, and I am a master’s student of Translation at Chernivtsi National University. From my school years, I have been deeply interested in the art of translation and creative writing, seeing language as a way to tell stories and connect cultures. At one point, I also dreamed of becoming a journalist, which shaped my lasting interest in media, storytelling, and visual narratives.
I translate from and into Ukrainian, English, and German and aspire to develop my career as a translator and interpreter, particularly in media and television contexts. I am especially interested in localization, which I understand as the careful adaptation of a source text to the cultural and communicative needs of the target audience.
Beyond my studies, I enjoy reading and exploring Ukrainian history and culture. One of my long-term goals is to create an educational service that would introduce international audiences to Ukraine’s history, culture, and identity through accessible and well-adapted content.
