My name is Yana Lotynets, and I am a 21-year-old Philology student from Ukraine, specializing in English and translation. I am currently studying in an international academic environment through Erasmus, which has strengthened my interest in how language, culture, and identity interact in real-life communication.
My academic background includes media literacy, intercultural communication, and literary and cultural analysis. These areas have taught me how narratives are constructed, how meaning is created, and how audiences interpret stories — both through language and through visual media. This is why I am especially drawn to film as a form of storytelling that combines words, images, and emotion into a powerful narrative.
Through this course, I hope to develop skills in visual narration, documentary thinking, and audiovisual analysis, which will support my future work as a translator and cultural mediator. I want to learn how to tell meaningful stories that connect people across borders — linguistically, emotionally, and culturally.
