Olivia Dans

docutribe Fellow

Olivia Dans is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, pursuing degrees in both Cinema Studies and Psychology. Her passions for film, human behavior, and social justice began at a very young age. She is excited to be working with docutribe where she can explore and comment on their synergies. While in high school Olivia devoted her time to helping others by serving as a volunteer outreach coordinator, and as president of the club Teens Acting for Social Change.

Olivia joined the docutribe community and quickly began to leverage her academic background and interest in the intersection between film and psychology when agreeing to co-author our trauma-informed film lesson plan. Olivia has taken on this project while seeking advisory support from Michael A. Franklin, PhD, ATR-BC, a current professor and the past chair of the graduate Transpersonal Art Therapy program at Naropa University. Olivia plans to pilot this program in the summer of 2024.

In her free time, Olivia enjoys exploring the music and film scene in Toronto and her hometown of Boston. Her work with docutribe is very fulfilling and she values being part of a positive change.
